The easy lift-up mechanism provides access to the spacious storage compartment underneath. When opened without a mattress, the base will remain open on its own. Please note that when a mattress is on the base, the weight of the mattress will require the base to be held open during use, as the lifting mechanism is not designed to support the additional weight unaided.
